The Bell P-39 Aircobra was one of the principal American fighter aircraft in service when the United States entered WWII. It was designed by the Bell Aircraft Corporation.
The P-39 was used by the Soviet Air Force, however there were other countries that used the fighter including the Royal Air Force. Because the P-39s performance dropped off rapidly above its critical attitude, it was useless in missions in Europe and in the Pacific. However, it was used successfully on the Eastern Front, which did not demand the high-attitude performance. The P-39 was an all-metal single-engine fighter.
This new model from COBI is the perfect replication of this historic aircraft. The model consists of movable parts like wheels, ailerons and the propeller. Additionally, it has a stand with a plate with the name of a model printed on it. The set includes a figure of a USAAF Pilot, 72nd Fighter Squadron, 21nd Fighter Group, Mariana Island 1944, who can be put at the fighter controls.
